During the 2013-2014 school year, the lives of 389,208 students were touched by our work:

  • 13,940 students were taught by teachers who were trained by Sposato.

Between 2008 and 2013, Sposato trained 213 teachers in Boston and 80 teachers in New Orleans.  During the 2013-2014 school year, 189 of these individuals were teaching.  We estimate that the average middle school or high school teacher serves 80 students per year and that the average elementary school teacher serves 20 students per year.

  • 1,200 students attended schools led by instructional leaders trained by Sposato.

During the 2013-2014 school year, Sposato piloted a program coaching instructional leaders in New Orleans that served leaders at 4 schools.  We estimate that the average instructional leader has an impact on 300 students.  Sposato is now, in 2014-2015, coaching school leaders in Boston as well.

  • 38,968 students were taught by individuals who completed our MOOC on first-year teaching.

"Surviving Your Rookie Year of Teaching" was our first MOOC.  During 2013-2014, we offered it three times through Coursera; a total of 34,000 students signed up. 34% of registrants were based in the US.  We estimate that 80% of registrants were teaching students in 2013-2014.  On average, 7% of people who sign up for a MOOC complete the course.  Therefore, we estimate that 628 teachers completed the MOOC.  We estimate that 33% of these teachers were elementary teachers and 67% were high school teachers.  We estimate that the average middle school or high school teacher serves 80 students per year and that the average elementary school teacher serves 20 students per year.

  • 65,100 students attended schools led by instructional leaders who completed our MOOC on Teacher Coaching.

"Coaching Teachers: Promoting Changes that Stick" was our second MOOC.  During 2013-2014, we offered it once through Coursera. 23,500 people signed up. 33% of registrants were based in the US.  We estimate that 80% were coaching teachers during the 2013-2014 school year.  On average, 7% of people who sign up for a MOOC complete the MOOC.  Therefore, we estimate that 434 coaches completed the MOOC.  We estimate that the average participant was at the same school as one other participant.  Therefore, we estimate that the MOOC has an impact on coaching practices at 217 schools, serving an average of 300 students each.

We distributed 4,503 copies of "Phoning Parents: High-Leverage Moves to Transform Your Classroom & Restore Your Sanity."  We estimate that these 1,828 copies were distributed to a total of 900 unique schools, each serving an average of 300 students.
